It is February and the time of year when many people start feeling sluggish. Yoga can help alleviate stress and help your focus.  These two poses will help you feel more grounded to the Earth and more like you are connected to your surroundings. Try these after meditating, and while in a peaceful state of mind.

BRIDGE POSEBridge pose or setu bandha saragansana. Allows you to mentally focus on becoming more grounded, as well as stimulating energy flow of the Root Chakra.

Step 1: Lie on the floor with your arms relaxed and by your sides, knees bent, and with the souls of your feet shoulder-width apart. Take one deep breath and press your lower back into the floor as you exhale.

Step 2: With your out breath, push buttocks upward, moving up toward groin and pelvis. Imagine a piece of string connected to your tailbone being pulled toward the ceiling.

Step 3: Continue pushing upward as long as comfortable, contracting buttock muscles to protect lower back.

Step 4: Come back down slowly, bringing upper back down to floor first, followed by tailbone. Slide arms outward and rest, feeling your body.connect with the Earth

Step 1: Stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent, and arms extended as far as comfortable.

Step 2: Tilt your pelvis- the area between your hips and lower abdomen- backward while keeping the rest of your body static.

Step 3: Thrust pelvis forward in swinging motion. Once you have the hang of this, you will be able to rock your pelvis rhythmically in a continuous motion while focusing on the spinning of an orange disk at the Sacral Chakra.
