Halloween Advisory Social

On Friday, the 31st of October, some of the students who dressed up for Halloween participated in the Halloween Relay during advisory. The relay was a series of obstacles and challenges that were created by the Key Club.

When asked what prompted the idea of the relay, Ms. Baumgartner, the Key Club supervisor, replied, “The Key Club, Student Council and Lancer Pride wanted to do a joint event that brought the school together.”

The relay certainly brought the school together because 90% of the school was in the field house during advisory.

Matthew Shea, a senior who dressed up as a Waterford High School golfer, participated in the events and had a great time.

Matt said, “I felt good and I felt like we were going to win,” when asked about his feelings right before the race.

The relay allowed many of the students to interact with those from other grades. I personally met new people during the event who were on the same team as me. This is how Waterford High School becomes a family. Everyone connects with each through the spirit of competition and friendship, not only through these little socials during advisory, but also through all of spirit week.

These socials will become a tradition.

Ms. Baumgartner said, “I hope this will continue for many years to come.  We have learned a lot this year about what we need to organize and make it even better for next year.”

Matt even said if he had the opportunity he would come back and do it again.

The high school needs events like this, the Best of the Best and others because they give the student body a break from all of the school work and stress; and, they allow students to connect on a deeper level other than simply as classmates.
