Sign Up for Dance Club

Avery Collet, Reporter

The end of first quarter is coming and that means that Dance Club will be kicking things into high gear to get ready for its annual March performance.

Mrs. MacDougall, retired teacher, is beginning her 22nd year as adviser of Dance Club. Mrs. MacDougall has been dancing since she was five, and dancing has always been a big part of her life.

Macdougall attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a B.S. in Physical Education with a concentration in Dance and Gymnastics. While there,  she toured Italy, Greece, and Iran with the University Dancers.  Mrs. MacDougall is also an accomplished choreographer. Along with teaching Dance Club, she also teaches modern/contemporary dance at the Dance Extension in Waterford.

Students who are interested in participating in Dance Club can expect dancing in modern, hip hop, jazz, and tap pieces. Since there are so many different pieces that students can be in, it is a good way to get experience for all different types of dance.

“I love seeing the happy faces on kids when they dance,” said Mrs. MacDougall.

If students are worried about joining Dance Club because they have never danced before, they shouldn’t be.. Dance Club allows students with no dance background to join and learn, and will also be performing in March.

Students are interested in joining can contact Mrs. MacDougall’s at [email protected].
