Each season has a certain feel to it that is often associated with specific shows and movies. Christmas movies are of course perfect for winter, and teenage love dramas are often popular during the spring and summer. Fall has its iconic Halloween movies, but there are other shows that have the perfect autumn feel without being scary. Some people rewatch old shows while others eagerly wait for new seasonal releases. Even with wonderful new movies coming out, you can never go wrong with a childhood Halloween movie, or a 2000s show seemingly always set during fall. Now, in no particular order, here are some of the most popular shows and movies to put you in a fall mood!

1) Charlie Brown

The homey, comforting feel of Charlie Brown brings viewers right back to their childhoods during the fall season. Although the old, warm feel of Charlie Brown is already perfect for autumn, the Halloween special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is specifically themed for the season. Charlie Brown is an icon of an American childhood, forever beloved by viewers for his sweet childish antics.

2) Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is one of the first shows people think of when picking something to watch during the fall. The soundtrack, the visuals, and the characters all have the perfect autumn feel, immersing viewers into the season. The show is timeless, following the story of a mother and her daughter as they grow together, making good and bad decisions as they explore life. “A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving” and “Kiss and Tell” are iconic episodes that fulfill the fall vibe. Gilmore Girls is perfect to watch during a girls night with your mom or to watch cozied up on your own as you soak up fall.

3) American Horror Story

As the title suggests, American Horror Story is the perfect watch for the Halloween season. Every season has a new storyline, providing viewers with plenty of variety to pick from. Although not all the seasons provide the perfect fall feel, viewers can pick from older horror and present-day seasons to watch as they prepare for Halloween. A truly iconic horror show, American Horror Story gifted viewers with popular characters such as Tate Langdon (Murder House), Dandy Mott (Freak Show), and The Countess (Hotel).

4) Harry Potter

A controversial addition to the list, Harry Potter is yet another iconic show that many rewatch yearly. While for some viewers the series about the wizarding world is a winter watch, many revisit the movie series during autumn. Showcasing all seasons over many years, Harry Potter can arguably be watched anytime, but it certainly has a special feeling to it when watched in the fall. Nothing can beat watching the adventures of young wizards bundled up in your own house scarf or knit sweater.

5) Hocus Pocus

An iconic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus is the classic witch movie we all grew up watching. Hocus Pocus creates a perfectly whimsical world that explores the tricks and fun of three Salem witches resurrected as sisters. As of 2022, Hocus Pocus has both an original version and a remake, giving viewers the option to pick between a classic and modern take on a wonderfully witchy Halloween story.
