If you’re looking for a spot that captures all the aspects of a classic American creamery, Dairy Queen remains one of the best spots to deliver the best of sweet treats. The lines go around the corner on a hot summer, spring, or even fall night.

The menu sets apart Dairy Queen from other ice cream shops.

Whether you are committed to the blizzards or looking for a traditional ice cream option, Dairy Queen has it. For blizzard enthusiasts they have a “Flavor of the Month” and staples like Oreo and Reese’s,which tend to be the most popular, but with around 20 other flavors to choose from.

My favorite blizzard pick would be the Strawberry Blizzard. It is the perfect mix of refreshing and creamy, with the strawberry and chocolate bits topping off the amazing taste. I would definitely recommend this order to those who love everything strawberry, with hints of bitterness and sweetness.

Traditional options include signature soft serve cones, with options of a classic swirl, or a variety of hardening dip. Another one of my favorite orders is the chocolate-vanilla soft serve cone, with sprinkles topped on it. Since this order is simple, it comes out within seconds.

They also have non-dairy options and fruit fan options that include a range of Misty Slushies and non-dairy Dilly Bars, ensuring that those with dietary restrictions or a preference for fruity refreshments aren’t left out.

Pricing at Dairy Queen is reasonable. Dairy Queen prices generally range from $2–$4 for small treats to $12–$15 for larger treats, with popular Blizzard treats costing roughly $6.19. Prices vary depending on the location.

Another aspect of Dairy Queen that adds to their charm is their service. The quick service during rushes and their sweet smiles make an impact. The staff handles pressure with grace and keeps a consistent fast pace of work. My last experience at Dairy Queen was very quick: ordering and getting our ice-cream within 10 minutes, which was perfect and efficient.

Dairy Queen has consistently been an amazing option for all ages, all taste buds, and has always offered a welcoming environment for all, and a menu long enough to ensure no one leaves unsatisfied.

Danica Agsalud is a junior at Waterford High School. This is her first year in journalism. Outside of school, she enjoys playing travel volleyball, staying at home with her family, and going out with her friends. She has lived in Quaker Hill, CT, her entire life and lives with her two older brothers, her parents, and three dogs. Danica hopes to play volleyball at the collegiate level and is interested in pursuing a health-related major.

Mali Stelik, Reporter

Mali Stelik is a junior at Waterford High School. This is her second year in journalism. Other than school she spends her time playing travel volleyball in Rhode Island and hanging out with family and friends. She lives with her mom, dad, and her dog Melvin. Her brother, Ethan is now off at college. Mali wants to play volleyball at a high level in college and major in business, hopefully owning her own business one day.
