The Waterford Lancers improved to 4-1 on the 2025 season, completing a 20-point comeback with a 35-34 win over the Ledyard Colonels at Bill Mignault Field in Ledyard on Friday night.
Quarterback Lucas Racicot showed resilience the whole game. Racicot threw for 221 yards and had 2 rushing touchdowns, as well as 3 passing touchdowns. The game started with Ledyard rushing for a touchdown and the Lancers having to punt, but the punt returner for the Colonels fumbled the punt in the end zone for a safety. After the safety, the Lancers drove down field and ended up with a Racicot rushing touchdown, tying the game at 9. The Colonels then scored 3 times, making the score 21 to 9 at the half.
Coming out of the half, the Colonels had a rushing touchdown, making it 28-9. After this time, the Lancers came out and got touchdown passes to Spencer and Nolda, tying the game at 28-28. Next, the Colonels scored with about 2 minutes to go, and the Lancers needed a touchdown and with a fourth and ten at the eleven-yard line.
With 10 seconds to go, Lucas Racicot threw a perfect pass to Griffin Haffey for the game winning touchdown.
At the end of the game, Racicot won player of the game for the day. Alongside Player of the Game, Racicot won Player of the week throwing 19/39, 221 yards, 3 touchdowns, rushing for 2 touchdowns, and 72 rushing yards.
