Dodgeball Tournament

The annual dodgeball tournament was hosted in the field house on Thursday, March 20. Students formed groups with their friends and faced off in a series of games. Mrs. Cavasino, head dodgeball coach, raised awareness of the event and refereed the games.

Students created teams of five or six friends. The tournament provided a fun break in one of the many full school weeks in March. For those who attended, the dodgeball tournament was a chance to exercise while enjoying themselves and spending time with friends.

Hannah Swanson, a senior, appreciated that the tournament was scheduled on a weekday and the healthy competition: “It was a great mid-week event that gave me something to look forward to. Even though we didn’t win, my team was definitely the best.”

The dodgeball players weren’t the only ones enjoying themselves. On the night of the tournament, spectators accompanied the competitors in the field house. Students, friends, and families were entertained by the matches, and cheered on their favorite teams.

Kelly O’Connor, a sophomore,  preferred watching the tournament instead of joining a team: “I don’t like to play dodgeball, but it was still fun to watch the games and the teachers who refereed.”

The dodgeball tournament was much more than an opportunity for competition and amusement, it was a chance for the students, teachers and families of Waterford High School to come together as a community for a night of enjoyment and stress-relief.
