Put On Your Dancing Shoes

With the promposals winding down, many students are focusing on prom necessities, such as dresses, tuxes, accessories and transportation.

“I prepared for prom. I am content,” says junior Cierra Reyes. “I got my dress, I have money for tickets, I already have my shoes, and [her boyfriend and former alumni, Andrew Pedro] rented his tux the very next week so we wouldn’t have to worry about it last minute. Two of my friends and I are planning to take pictures at Harkness. After prom, we’re all going to Townhouse for breakfast or dinner.” Reyes recommends that all juniors think ahead to relieve stress and properly celebrate their prom.

Senior Raquel Degadillo has some more prom planning to do since she has been asked to the junior prom by Matthew Hausmann and is planning to go to senior prom with her friends. “I was not overwhelmed about the fact that I’m going to two proms; actually, I’m really excited.” Degadillo smiles. “ I’ve already bought my junior prom dress, which I love and I am so ready for it.”

Senior David Green feels a wide range of emotions as the prom countdown commences.

“I was upset about a rumor that we were going to be at Water’s Edge. Since we’re going to American Wharf, I hope the tent can fit us all.” He takes a minute to get his feelings out about the dance. “I’m also excited because I get to take my girlfriend [junior Tianna Roman] to her first and my last prom. I’m also glad that I’ve already gone to Men’s Warehouse and gotten my suit. I just have to plan what [my girlfriend and I] are doing afterwards.”

In all, there is an atmosphere of nervousness and happiness. Hopefully, these nights are safe and enjoyable for the juniors and seniors, as well as their guests.
