Maybe it’s a coincidence that National Ice Cream Cone Day falls on September 22nd, the day after the last day of summer. It’s one more day to get yourself a summer treat before the reality of harsh, cold fall days settles in.

Ice cream cones used to be called “little waffles” since they look like waffles rolled into a cone shape. They are actually made from wafers, even though there is an actual waffle cone.

It seems as though every time a worker asks a person “cup or cone?” after they inform them what flavor of ice cream that person would like, the answer is cup. However, there are quite a few people who prefer cones over cups.

Here are some responses of students after asking them their favorite flavor of ice cream followed by the most famous question of an ice cream server: Cup or cone?

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream and do you prefer a cup or a cone?

Junior Jack Dombrowski: “Cookie dough with sprinkles in a cone”.

Senior Brighton McShane: “Chocolate in a cone”.

Senior Nate Hillyer: “Coconut in a cone”.

Senior Carley Silvia: “Vanilla in a cup”.
