On the first day of April, Waterford High School held one of their first major events in the auditorium since last March. Thanks to the Class Council of 2021, Senior Superlatives were presented to over 70 students. For the first time in almost a year, many of the attendees were given a reason to finally dress up for a formal event again. Although Covid-19 restrictions were enforced, the night was still carried out successfully and safely.

The event was hosted by a few Waterford High School seniors. Sofia Brunaccioni, Jenna Caldrello, and Sarah Johnson passed out the awards while Amy Pinch and Hannah Linder presented the slideshow and announced the winners. Lillie Abramowicz photographed the winners. These photos will be featured in the upcoming 2020-2021 yearbook. In the crowd, Jackie Puccio interacted with the audience, asking questions about nominees, categories, etc. Behind the scenes, Jack Lange live streamed the event and uploaded it to YouTube. Finally, Mrs. Hartell and Mrs. Prpich, the senior class advisors, helped organize Senior Superlatives. With their help and the help of other 2021 Class Council members, the seniors were able to enjoy the socially-distanced night.

Before the winners were announced, a live performance was presented by Cooper Alloway and his band. They performed original songs, starting off the night right with their talent. In total, Cooper’s band performed twice. The second song they sang was called “Flowers for Ears”, featuring a duet between Cooper and his drummer.

The Senior Superlatives were presented just as they had been in the past, despite the Covid restrictions. Each category was presented with three nominees, with occasional trivia and questions between each announcement of the winners. This year, the senior class saw a record high in absent winners. Due to the different cohorts, some students in cohort C were unable to attend the event in person. Luckily, the event is on YouTube for anyone who missed it.

After all the nominations were read and the winners were announced, Amy Pinch concluded the night by thanking the stage crew, Mr. Valle, Mrs. Prpich, and Mrs. Hartell. Without their assistance, the event would not have been possible.
