Door Decorating

Door+Decorating
Nola Gessner

During spirit week, the school hosted a door decorating contest. Freshman doors were green, sophomore doors were yellow, juniors were red, and seniors were blue.

Each advisory had to come up with a creative look for their doors. The doors varied from Christmas themed doors to pasting the advisory faces all over them.

A lot of the seniors doors were loosely based on the people in the advisory by adding their faces or names on it or just by adding their names on it Keeping it simple with a few touches to spice it up, Mr. Ellis advisory had sparkly door curtains on the sides of the doors and the title “let’s go Lancers” with each person’s name printed on the side.

Juniors had a lot of creative doors to show. Mr. Ash’s door used his name and titled it “Kick Ash” with 10 donkeys on it, each one representing someone in their advisory and the biggest one representing Mr. Ash. Another creative door that’s on the Christmas side was Mr. Ryan’s Advisory. Making a naughty and nice list with all the people in the advisory on the nice list and their teachers on the naughty list.

Sophomores definitely had some of the same ideas with the yellow door. At least four doors had the minions going on. Each minion represented a person in their advisory. Mrs. Peluso door  had a beehive and cut out bees with each person’s name on it and the queen bee as Mrs. Peluso.

Freshman doors took the green color to their advantage by adding colorful lights and pictures and extra decorations. Mrs. Balisciano’s door added extra background and decor to make it look like a jungle. The vines added volume and the title was “Grade nine hanging from a vine. Another cute door was Mr. O’Connor advisory. The title was “kind of a big dill” with a bunch of pickles all over it. By adding lights around the door, it stood out.

At the end of the week they announced each grade’s winner. Mr. O’Connor’s door won for the freshman, Mrs. Agins won for sophomores, Mrs. Morales won for juniors, and Mr. Bassett won for the seniors.
