Now is the time to sign up for the Waterford High School National Art Honors Society!
The National Art Honor Society is seeking students who demonstrate an interest in art and are interested in furthering their knowledge of the subject after graduation. This honors society offers artistic recognition, leadership opportunities, and connections to college and career paths. You will grow as an artist while strengthening your résumé for scholarships and college applications.
The NAHS has simple requirements to apply. All students who would like to join need to take at least one semester of art each year at Waterford High School and have a grade of 90% or higher. Another requirement once you join the NAHS is that you need to have a minimum of eight service hours each year to maintain an active status. This honors society also has projects, activities, and fundraisers throughout the year, and each student needs to participate in at least two of these activities.

To maintain a membership in the NAHS, you are required to attend meetings after school; meetings after school are on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in room 223. There will be five mandatory meetings that are required for everyone to attend throughout the school year.
Each student will have annual dues of $35.
According to the NAHS Chapter Handbook, one of the bylaws is “To graduate with the NAHS honors and earn the right to wear a cord, pin, or tassel at graduation, a member must remain in good standing until the graduation date.”
Several current members say NAHS has already transformed their high school experience.
Senior Tori Campisi says, “The National Art Honor Society is an awesome opportunity to show your skills and creativity!”
Junior Evie Bellos also says, “NAHS is a great opportunity because it allows students to socialize with other artists and share their ideas. It also provides a way to volunteer and help out in the community as well as working on projects, like the mural that was completed last school year [that is now being put up in our school library].”
Senior Skyla Campisi says, “I would describe NAHS as a place where you can connect with many different types of people through art. For example, the memory project allows us to create a portrait, we trace our hand and include our name, age, and a kind message. When the student receives the artwork, they place their hand over ours, creating a meaningful connection across distance. What I’ve learned from this is that no matter your skill level, NAHS encourages you to see art more deeply and expand your way of thinking.”
To apply, you can go to the art classrooms and scan the QR code. If you have questions, Mrs. Lally, Mrs. Provo-Parker, and Ms. Bono can help. Don’t miss your chance to join this great opportunity that builds your art, leadership, and community— “your next masterpiece starts here.”
