With the 2026 school year quickly coming to a close, many freshmen will soon be facing the graduation of their senior siblings. While there is still time before post-graduation plans are enacted, many sibling duos already have opinions about these impending changes.
Among these duos are senior Lily Valentino and Freshman Michael Valentino. Lily says, “I would say I’m relatively close with my sibling, but not super close.”
Still, Lily explains, “I’m going to miss how I can’t listen to my brother’s song choices and hum and sing to songs on our car rides together.”
“I’m not going to miss sharing a bathroom and having little arguments a lot.”
Michael explains how they are fairly close, and he “will not miss sharing a bathroom.”
Lily’s overall message is “just let time slow down and be grateful for every sibling even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time. It’s the best gift ever.”
Freshman Troy Harasim and senior Evalyn Tesler are another pair, and while step-siblings, they still feel as though they share just as strong of a connection as blood-related siblings.
Troy explains, “I am pretty close with my sister. It’s enjoyable being around her and I’m going to miss doing track with her and sharing our snacks. I can’t really say there is anything I won’t miss; she has made my freshman year so memorable. She’s introduced me to so many new people and friends.”
Evalyn feels a similar way explaining how “We go for runs on the weekends and walk all the time before/after dinner. He never fails to make me laugh and I’m so happy we got to experience one of our high school years together.”
“I love bringing him to gatherings with my friends, and it’s been such an amazing experience to watch him grow over the years that I know him. It’s sad to see that it’s ending so quickly, but I know we’ll stay close even while I’m away next year.”
Freshman Audrey Westkott explains that her and senior Luke Westkott are “pretty close.”
“I’m going to miss having someone in the house, as well as his jokes and having someone a door down the hallway.”
However, Audrey explains, “I’m not going to miss him taking over the basement and always playing video games.”
Luke says he’s going to miss “eating dinner together as a family.” But explains that he won’t miss “having to pay for Audrey (one time), or having to deal with her 24/7.”
Sophomore Bella Rush explains that when her older brother, Ian Rush, graduated last year she had mixed opinions.
“I missed him driving me around and paying for me, but I don’t miss getting blamed for everything he did.”
Despite the typical arguments and disagreements between siblings, the impending changes are going to leave impacts on these sibling duos, who each miss, or will miss, certain things that they currently share with their siblings.
