WATERFORDrama Pre-workshop

Rachel Dondero

As a beginner to WATERFORDrama, I was a bit apprehensive when it came to getting involved. I wasn’t quite sure what the people or environment would be like. I walked into the auditorium for the first workshop and everyone was busy with sign-up sheets, chatting away and racing about the front section of the auditorium. They were really like a family, there were no separate cliques, no one seemed to feel that they’re were better than others, and in the middle of it all was Shane cracking sarcastic jokes and making the whole room fill with laughter. It was extremely comforting, and instantly I felt welcome.

Following this, we got on the stage and began to warm up. We flailed our bodies about in numerous amusing ways which, in any normal circumstances would be quite embarrassing, but here it was no big deal. We did some theatre games, and by the end of it all, it almost felt as though I had been attending these workshops for weeks. If it’s the fear of exclusion you’re worried about when it comes to trying out WATERFORDrama there is absolutely nothing to worry about
