Waterford Volleyball Advances to State Quarterfinals With a Win Over Amistad

The Waterford Girls Volleyball team won 3-0 over number six Amistad last night in New Haven  in the second round of the Class M state tournament. Last night’s win followed a 3-0 win on Monday versus Ansonia at home. The Lancers are now 16-5 in their season and beat Fitch for the Division I ECC title last Thursday. When asked about the success of last night’s game, Sabrina Kobyluck responded “we always know how to work together as a unit and we are very good at adjusting to the challenges that we face throughout the night.” The starters last night were senior captains Ryleigh Gonyo, Rachel Miller, and Sabrina Kobyluck, along with Briana Muckle, Liliana Kramer, Angela Colonis, and Kate Lange. Furthermore, the Lancers achieved impressive stats during the game. Sabrina Kobyluck had 31 assists and 4 digs. Ryleigh Gonyo, Rachel Miller, and Kate Lange had nineteen, five, and six kills respectively. Libero Briana Muckle had seven digs and two aces throughout the game, and Ryleigh Gonyo had eleven digs and four aces. To complete a successful night, Rachel Miller also had six digs and one ace. Waterford will play Nonnewaug High School at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15 at Woodbury Middle School.
