With the warmer weather ending, it is time for fall sports are ending as well. A majority of Waterford’s fall sports are beginning to end as the winter begins, such as Volleyball, Cross Country, Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer, Field Hockey and Swimming. As a strong sports town, many of Waterford’s sports are currently in the playoffs, though some have sadly fallen out of the playoffs. Our Girls’ Soccer team and Volleyball team are currently in the playoffs, with strong hopes of winning it all.

We asked a few members of the other fall sports teams what they thought of their team’s seasons. We asked Waterford Boys’ soccer players junior Evan Birdsall & senior Captain Kevin Zeppieri what their most memorable moments were this season.

Kevin replied, “Scoring a hat trick in Ledyard.” This was a great goal accomplished, no pun intended.

Evan added, “Definitely beating Stonington in overtime,” a memorable moment in what turned out to be a great season for Waterford.

Sadly, Waterford ended up losing to NFA in the quarterfinals, 1-0.

Our other fall sports also had successful seasons. Waterford’s own junior Jeanette Mooney made first team all stars for Girls’ Cross Country, and senior Caleb Harris also made first team all stars for Boys’. WHS’ Girls’ Field Hockey team finished with a great season as well, finishing with a record of 6-6-2 in their division and 7-8-2 overall. A great season for Waterford’s fall sports teams, and we cheer on the teams that are still competing!
