Bridge_PoseThe Bridge Pose

Benefits: The bridge pose provides stretching of the back and legs while alleviating stress and tension in the body. The pose can reduce anxiety, fatigue, back pains, headaches and sleeplessness.

Steps:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet pressed to the floor. Extend your arms along the floor, keeping your palms flat.
  1. Press your feet and arms firmly into the floor. Exhale and you lift your hips upward
  2. Draw your tailbone toward your pubic bone, holding your buttocks off the floor.
  3. Roll your shoulders back and underneath your body. Clasp your hands behind you  and extend your arms along the floor.
  4.  Press your forearms into the mat.

Reach your knuckles toward your heels.

Hold for up to one minute. To release, unclasp your hands and place them palms-down alongside your body. Exhale and roll your spine along the floor, and allow your knees to drop together.

The Corpse PoseSavasana

Benefits: The corpse pose relaxes the nervous system, and also gives the cells of the body an opportunity to really permeate the fresh oxygenated blood, easing all the muscles and allowing you to fully relax.

Steps:

  1. Simply lie on the mat with your hands and feet as wide as it is comfortable for you. Palms up, toes pointed out.
  2. Shimmy the shoulder blades right under the chest and just allow yourself to melt onto the earth. Take three deep breaths and then stay in the posture for five minutes.
