Weekly Round-up 4/21 – 4/26

Baseball:

4/21 vs Ledyard: W 2-0

4/23 vs Killingly: PPD (field conditions), make up May 5

4/25 vs Old Saybrook:

Junior Connor Lewis pitched a shutout with eight strikeouts as the Lancers’ streak continued with a 2-0 win over Ledyard on Monday. Senior Jesse Coates scored twice, as senior Seth Hoagland caught a grounder that could have led to a double play but instead drove in a run. This win, their sixth in the season, has propelled the Lancers to the top of the New Haven Register’s Top 10 poll.

Wednesday’s game vs Killingly has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The make-up date is May 5.

Boys’ Lax:

4/22 vs Ledyard: L 8-11

4/24 vs Montville:

4/26 vs Old Saybrook:

Sophomore Taylor Huta had 10 saves, but it was not enough as the Lancers fell to Ledyard 11-8 Tuesday. The Lancers record is 1-4 for the season.

Boys’/Girls’ Track:

4/23 vs New London: Boys: L 67-83   Girls: W 84-49

Wednesday’s track meet had mixed results. Senior Julio Gil-Martinez won the 100 and 400, but it was not enough as the Lancers fell to New London 83-67. The loss tied the Boy’s track record at 1-1.  The girls also tied their record at 1-1 with an 84-49 win. Freshman Isabella Jenne won the javelin, shot put, and discus, junior Makayla Andrews won the 110 hurdles and senior Savonnah Artis won the 100 and 200.

Boys’ Tennis:

4/21 vs Montville: W 7-0

4/23 vs New London:

4/25 vs Stonington:

Seniors Alan Luner and Shashwat Kala, and junior Willie Dong  each won in straight sets as the Lancers swept Montville 7-0. No.4 singles was forfeited. The Lancers continue their winning streak at five matches, bringing their record to 5-0 overall.

Girls’ Lax:

4/22 vs Ledyard: W 16-10

4/24 vs Montville:

Junior Riley Dimmock led all scorers with seven goals as the Lancers downed Ledyard 16-10 on Tuesday. Senior McKenzie Griffith-Potter added two goals and an assist as the team climbs to .500 with a 2-2 record overall

Girls’ Tennis:

4/21 vs Montville: W 7-0

4/23 vs New London: W 7-0

4/25 vs Stonington

Juniors Nisha Rajamohan and Lauren Rahr and senior Lexi Moger won in straight sets as the Lancers defeat Montville 7-0 on Monday. The doubles teams of juniors Katie Lewis/ Jessica Hudson and freshman Alaina Moger/ senior Tarlynne Tone-Pah-Hote shut out out their opposition. The Lancers are now 4-0 for the season.

Seniors Nisha Rajamohan, Lauren Rahr, Lexi Moger, and junior Francesca Secor swept singles play in straight sets as the Lancers defeated New London 7-0 on Wednesday. The Lancers are now 5-0 for the season, including 2-0 in the ECC Medium Division.

Golf:

4/23 vs Montville: W 4-3

4/25 vs Stonington

Junior Matt Shea shot a 37, taking medalist honors as the Lancers defeated Montville 188-196 on Wednesday. Senior Mitch Mirabito shot a 47 to win his match. The Lancers are now 3-0 for the year.

Softball:

4/22 vs Ledyard: W 7-4

4/23 vs Killingly: PPD (field conditions), make up May 6

4/26 vs Rockville:

The Lancers piled on the runs in the top of the second, scoring seven times to defeat Ledyard 7-4 Tuesday. Junior Jodi Weiss and senior Hannah Swanson each made two hits. The Lancers have won their last two games, climbing to the .500 mark at 3-3.

Wednesday’s game against Killingly has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The make-up date is May 6.
